Fact-checking

I provide fact-checking for details in written materials. I’m experienced in checking texts against the writers’ source material (e.g. administrative records) and external sources online (e.g. news stories).

I also support factual accuracy by checking the internal consistency of documents. This often involves flagging up contradictory wording (e.g. a castle is in Leeds on page 5 and in Ludlow on page 10).

My approach to fact-checking varies according to the needs and processes of the company I’m working for. My expertise is in humanities-focused “soft” content – texts about people, cultures, community, and daily life.

I’m happy to attend online CPD to improve my knowledge of particular subject areas.

Fact-checking is becoming increasingly important now that so many texts are produced with the help of generative AI.
